Club Spotlight: Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club

Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club: Just ride. Everywhere. With Everyone.

Founded in 1985, the Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club offers organized group rides for most levels as well as time trials and social activities. The club cycles throughout York Region, mostly on quieter rural roads. They offer road and gravel rides, including some special holiday weekend rides.

Newmarket Eagles offer several groups rides per week with a slightly different emphasis in an attempt to cater to most level of rider. Groups are usually organized by speed and distance, with more rides between 2 to 4 hours long, led by a designated Group Ride Leader. Each group stays together, stops for flats or mechanicals, and ensures no rider is left behind.

Their rides offer a lot of variety, so riders can choose to have a hard ride, or an easier ride with a more social focus. Their most popular group rides are Saturday mornings, and our Sunday rides stop at a bakery. Newmarket Eagles offer female-only rides, and mid-week rides during the day and evenings. They host time trials from 15km to 40km, and special skills training rides in the spring for (mostly) new members.

If you’re looking for opportunities and motivation to increase fitness and social connections, you’ll enjoy the Eagles. Our club offers a wide variety of routes and social events, and you’ll find a strong sense of community.
