Jacqui Wilson had an excellent run to take a superb individual bronze medal in the annual Anglo-Celtic Plate Home Countries International in Limerick.
She also claimed the Scottish 100km title and the women’s Don Ritchie Cup, leading the Scottish women to second team place.
Wilson’s time of 7:58:24 moves her up to 5th all-time on the Scottish 100km rankings.
Alice Baird had a fine 100km debut running 8:31:19 to finish 5th overall and take silver in the Scottish championships, with Chloe Sangster taking the bronze in a new PB of 8:37:00. Danni Callaghan also improved her PB with 9:02:08.
The race also served as a GB trial for the IAU World 100km Championships being held in Spain in September, with the first two men and women securing automatic qualification, subject to achieving the qualifying mark.
English duo Katie Young, with 7:50:36 and Nicole Funnell, 7:51:45, placed first and second in the race. Both well inside the British Athletics women’s standard of 8:06:00, securing the two automatic spots on offer.
Wilson ’s time is also inside the standard and puts her in contention for selection when further places are added later in the Spring.

Sage Pearce-Higgins also improved his PB to run 6:54:21 and take the Scottish mens title, and the Don Ritchie trophy. Although not resident in Scotland long enough to qualify for the Scottish team, the Edinburgh AC athlete also ran a very controlled race to finish 6th overall.
Adam Grey of Penicuik improved his PB running 7:05:44 to take the Scottish silver medal,
GB international Chris Richardson, on course to go well under 7 hours up to 50 miles, then suffered an Achilles issue slowing him in the later stages. He took the Scottish bronze medal in 7:39:31.
Dave Shaw finished in 7:54:31, as Scotland finished in 4th place. Kyle Wilson was forced to drop out at the 40-mile mark also with an injury. Such are the rigours of 100km on the road.
Overall men’s winner, and GB champion, was Salford’s Dave Barratt. Racing beyond 50km for the first time, he ran 6:31:04 to move to 5th on the GB all-time rankings.
